Our lightweight bamboo poncho is gorgeous and comfortable. It drapes beautifully. Suitable for wearing outdoors or indoors. Add a scarf as well!
Please look at the photos of our lightweight bamboo scarves and choose which color way you would like.
The process of making a poncho is labor intensive. Lightweight bamboo yarn is wound into skeins on a hand-powered machine, then hand-dyed with dyes imported from the US. The yarn is then warped onto a warping board. The same is done with cotton yarn which serves as the weft. The fabric is then handwoven on a traditional backstrap loom, a process which takes a full day of work. Two pieces of fabric are woven for each poncho. The fabric is washed and then tailored by the co-op's talented tailors, and the fringes hand-tied.
The lightweight bamboo yarn is made from sustainably-grown organic bamboo in China. It is colorfast and will not rub off onto your clothing.
Product Care
Hand wash in cold water with mild soap. Add fabric softener to the rinse. Hang to dry.
Always use fabric softener and minimize agitation and heat.
For creases or a too-worn look, freshen up by spritzing with water and hanging to dry. Or hang in a steamy bathroom.
The fabric has already been washed by hand and dried as above, in Guatemala.
Or you may professionally dry clean your poncho.
